The RIAA has started leveraging the DMCA to subpoena ISPs to disclose the identities of peer-to-peer participants trading copyright recordings. Verizon Communications, the ISP cited in the first such suit, comments \"We understand that RIAA has a problem and needs this information. At the same time, we have an equally legitimate concern that they comply with the proper legal process.\" This follows news of RIAA law pirates forcing American ISPs to ban whole segments of the Chinese internet because those segments include bootleg sites.
